Market Day

The children had a great deal of fun making their products for Market Day, buying from other classes, and especially - selling the products that they had made.

During the term they made 'tasters' -  choosing to attend a workshop. They tried - pet rocks, photo frames, pencil holders, bracelets, wind chimes and book marks. They then chose which product that they wanted to make and design how they wanted it to look.

Pet rocks was VERY popular.

Unfortunately the camera wasn't working so well on the actual day - technology ๐Ÿ˜ƒ but here are a few photos of the children setting up.

WRITING - 3 Little Pigs

The children had lots of fun acting out the 3 little pigs. They then did some wonderful retelling of the story. This is what some of them wrote - just some teacher added punctuation, e.g. "  "

Once there lived three piglets with their mum. Mum said, “It is the time to go out
to build your own house.”
One pig made his house out of straw. One pig made his house out of sticks. One
made his house out of bricks and stones.
One day a hairy wolf came. He went to the little pig’s house. He knocked on the
door. He said, “Little pig, little pig, let me in.”
“No, no.”
“Then I’ll puff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in.”
The little pig ran to his second brother’s house. The wolf knocked on the door.
“Little pigs, little pigs, let me in.”
“No, no.”
“Then I’ll puff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in.”
The pigs ran to their big brothers house. They said to the big brother,
“The wolf is coming.”
He said, “No wolf is coming in this house.”
The wolf knocked on the door. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me in.”
“No, no.”
“Then I’ll puff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house in.”
But the wolf couldn’t blow the house in. He looked up and saw the chimney.
The big pig looked at the wolf climbing the chimney……

Once upon a time there was three little pigs and their mum said to them,
“You must leave home because you are big.”
The little pig made a straw house and it was not strong. The wolf came to see
the little pig and the wolf blew the little pig’s house. The wolf was so strong that
the little pig’s house blew away. The little pig went to the middle pig’s house.
Along came the wolf and the wolf blew the middle pigs house and the middle
pigs house went away……..

Once upon a time there lived 3 piglets. One day there mother said, “Go and live
your own lives,” so they went into the forest.
The smaller pig built his house with straw and the medium one built his house
with sticks and the oldest built his house with bricks and rocks.
One day a big bad wolf came to their houses. First he went to the one made of
straw and he blew it down. Then he went to the one made of sticks and he
blew it down. Then he went to the one made of bricks but he could not blow it
down, so he climbed the chimney. The 3 little pigs put a real hot  pot of water
under the chimney. The wolf fell in. He jumped out and he ran away screaming,
“I’m never coming back. The 3 little pigs were safe and had happy lives.

Once there were 3 little pigs who’s mum told them to live by yourselves.
The wolf tried to blow it down. The wolf blowed and blowed and blowed and he
couldn’t in the end.
The pigs put the hot water in the big pot. The wolf climbed down the chimney
and he got burnt. The little pigs were safe.

Once upon a time there were three little pigs and their mother said, “You need
to make your own houses.”
So off went the three little pigs. The first little pig is going to make his house
with straw and he saw a fast way to make his home. The 2nd little pig was going
to make his house with wood. It was just finished in 3 days. The 3rd little pig
made his house with rocks and bricks. It was finished in a week. His hard work
made it strong enough. So it can protect the 3 little pigs. So along came the big
bad wolf. He went to the house made of straw and the wolf said…
”Little pig, little pig. Let me in otherwise I’ll huff and puff and blow your house in.”
He blew the house made of straw down and he blew the house made of wood
down. He could not blow down the house made of bricks.

Once upon a time there lived 3 little pigs. There was a big pig and a middle pig
and a small pig. The small pig decided to build a house with straw. The middle
pig decided to build a house with wood. The big pig decided to build a house
with bricks and stones. It took a long time to finish the house.
Then the big bad wolf came. The wolf said to the little, “Open the door.” And
the wolf said the pig, “If you don’t I will huff and puff and blow your house down.
Then he did.
He said it again to the middle pig.  “Open the door. If you don’t I will have to
huff and puff and blow your house down.” And he did.
Then he said it again to the big pig.  “Open the door. If you don’t I will have
to huff and puff and blow your house down.”  ……

Corban's Art Centre

A highlight for Tahi Rua in Term 3 was our visit to Corban's Art Centre.  The children were very proud of their work.

And some completed work -

South Africa

Addison's mum helped us make these musical instruments - made out of recycled materials. We had fun playing them and couldn't wait to take them home to share with our families.

Sharing about home

Some of the children enjoyed sharing experiences from home with us. Here are a couple examples.
